Lyrids 2027 from Rovaniemi

The Lyrids peak on the night of Thursday, April 22, but the sky over Rovaniemi does not get dark that night, so the shower will not be visible.

About the Lyrids

The Lyrids are active from mid to late April. The meteors are debris from comet Thatcher (C/1861 G1) and hit the atmosphere at about 49 km per second. At the peak, a perfectly dark sky with the radiant overhead would show about 18 an hour. Real counts are lower.
